People read this site about things they have told almost no one. So the short version first: the treatment guide runs entirely in your browser and we never see your answers, we do not sell your information or share it with anyone except the form service that delivers it to us, and we would rather you did not send us your medical details at all.

The treatment guide stores nothing

Our treatment options guide runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are not transmitted to us, not written to your device, and not stored anywhere. Close the tab and they are gone. We cannot see what you answered, because it never leaves your screen.

What we collect when you contact us

The contact form asks for your email address so we can reply. Your name, a topic, and a phone number (if you would rather we called) are optional. The form also records which page you were on when you wrote, so a question makes sense without you having to re-explain it.

Submissions are delivered to us by email through Web3Forms, a third-party form processor. Web3Forms stores a copy of each submission in a database it hosts with a cloud provider (its privacy policy says for up to three years) and may pass the sender's email and IP address to spam-filtering services, under its own privacy terms. We do not have a database of readers, and we do not add anyone to a mailing list.

  • Please do not send diagnoses, treatment history, or other sensitive medical details. We cannot provide medical advice or clinical care by email, and email is not a secure or confidential channel.
  • We are not a covered entity under HIPAA, and messages you send us are not protected health information.
  • We are not a crisis service. Nobody monitors this inbox overnight. In an emergency, call 911; for a mental health crisis, call or text 988.

Analytics and cookies

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to see which pages get read. It is a cookieless analytics tool: it does not set advertising cookies, does not build a profile of you across other websites, and reports traffic to us in aggregate rather than as individual people.

We do not run advertising trackers, remarketing pixels, or social media tracking scripts. Nothing on this site follows you elsewhere on the internet.

What we never do

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. There is no lead-generation business behind this site.
  • We do not pass your details to treatment providers, call centers, or marketers.
  • We do not attempt to identify individual readers from analytics data.

Third parties and links

This site links to outside organizations such as SAMHSA, the CDC, and Poison Control, and to TeleMed Today, an educational site connected to the same ownership as this one. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site, under their privacy practices, not ours.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and contact

Because we hold so little, there is usually little to request — but if you have emailed us and want that message deleted, ask and we will delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over personal information under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we will honor a request made under them.

Questions about this page can be sent through our contact page. We do not monitor that inbox around the clock, and it is not a crisis line.
